How big do I seem to my baby?

At 4 months, Rhys is growing really fast. At his last doctor’s appointment he was measured at 27 inches long and almost 16 pounds. He’s a big boy!

But he’s still tiny. After looking at him in the crib the other night, I wondered, “If Rhys was actually my size (70 inches and 150 pounds), relatively speaking, how big would I seem to him?” Or in other words, “If I were a baby (at my current size), how big would my dad seem to me?” After some quick calculations, I am approximately 15 feet tall (181 inches) and 1,400 pounds.  That’s right.  I’m 1,400 pounds.

New Indy flick “tonally most like Raiders”

Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull

Well, at least that’s what George Lucas would have you believe. While I might pray that this is true, I have a hard time believing it coming from the mouth of the guy who said similarly lofty things about Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. If the Phantom Menace was “tonally” what Star Wars was supposed to be… Man, I don’t even want to think about it.

Then again, Lucas isn’t directing, and Spielberg has managed to do some excellent movies the last few years (Munich, Catch Me If You Can, and Minority Report come to mind), so maybe I shouldn’t be so pessimistic.

Hell yeah! The Verve reunite!

The VerveI can’t believe it. The Verve, yes, the best rock band of the last 15 years, have reunited. Check out The Verve Live for all the news. Finally, I’ll have a reason to go to Virgin Records again.

I know what a lot of people might be thinking. With most band reunions comes fear. Fear that a bunch of desperate geezers will tarnish their musical legacy. That they’re just doing it for the money. Etc, etc. (I thank god that Morrissey had the good sense to never take Marr up on that Smiths reunion. Talk about potential horror shows.) But, with the Verve, they’re just too no-nonsense, and too darn good—I truly believe it’s about the music. I don’t think I’d believe that about any other reunion, and almost can’t believe I’m not more cynical about this one. But, I guess the euphoria that has accompanied this news is dashing away any cynicism.

It’s this simple really: If there is one track on the new album as good as The Rolling People, I’ll feel that my prayers were answered.

Finally, I’ll be able to fulfill my Jedi destiny

Star Wars

I don’t have much time for video games these days, but I may have to make time for the upcoming Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Can it get better than using the Wiimote as a lightsaber? [ full article at Kotaku ]

Holy crap. Syncing up Dark Side of the Moon with The Wizard of Oz truly works. I guess my stoney friends weren’t crazy after all. Check it out…
