I’ve entered the world of DSLR
August 24, 2007 on 12:43 pm | In Photography | No CommentsIt was a long time coming, but I’ve finally taken the plunge and got the Nikon d40. So far, I love it. I loved the price, too. It’s an unbelievable value with a more than adequate kit lens. The only thing I’ve discovered I miss is auto-bracketing. I’ve never used it, and honestly the d40′s light meter is totally accurate, but there are times in high-contrast light when I could see wanting the multiple exposures. My cheapo Kodak Z730 (actually a fantastic camera in it’s own right for what it is) even had 3 shot auto-bracketing, so it’s a weird compromise that Nikon made. But, with a limited budget, you can’t always have it all.

Hoard your Gummi Bears
August 16, 2007 on 3:58 pm | In Business & Politics | No CommentsYes, good loan rates are disappearing before our eyes, and milk sure costs a lot these days, AND filling up the gas tank is a real dent in the wallet. But, finally, a reason for me to be outraged by the current state of our economy—the days of cheap Gummi Bears are over. NOOOOO!!!!
Is it a housing bubble?
